It's the start of a new year friends, and for many, it could also mean the start of a new position either within their current organization or outside of it.
If that new opportunity should mean beginning a role as an administrative professional for the first time, I say, good for you and welcome to the club! 🙋🏽♀️
There is so much about our profession I would happily share with anyone, especially someone starting out in this role for the first time. It can be an incredibly rewarding profession, with no two days the same, moments, heck even weeks, that can challenge your very soul, and then others that warm your heart and make you so proud of the work you do.
Being an admin professional, in this new work environment we find ourselves in, can be quite the challenge, with many established rules and workplace norms no longer existent! However, it's still possible to be a huge success in your admin role! 💃🏽
So I sat down and recorded this quick episode with some advice for those who may be entering into the wonderful world of administrative work for the first time. Some topics I chat about are:
- learn all you can; keep an 'always be learning' mindset
- respect not only others but yourself too; know your boundaries and stick to them; and
- if at all possible, work in an industry or with an organization that aligns with your values and interests
